About Ledgester
We're Profinss, a small team building reference and workflow tools for Indian CAs and tax professionals. Ledgester is our first product — it's the Indian GST law, made queryable.
Why we built it
Anyone who has read the CGST Act knows the problem. The law is structured for legislators, not practitioners. Section 17(5) lists blocked credits across three subsections and ten clauses. The place-of-supply rules sit in two separate Acts. Filing deadlines change by notification, not by amendment.
A working CA consults this material a dozen times a day. The current workflow — switching between gov PDFs, ClearTax explainers, old e-mail threads, and a colleague's spreadsheet — is what every other industry abandoned a decade ago.
Ledgester is what we wished existed: the Act and its rules, encoded into a fast, plain-English interface that you can keep open in a tab.
How we're different
- Your data stays on your device. Invoices, customers, line items — everything is encrypted in your browser with a key only you have. We literally cannot read what you save. If you forget your password and lose your recovery phrase, the data is gone — even to us. That's the trade-off for real privacy.
- Phone-only sign-in. No email, no Google login, no password to forget. Your phone number is the account. New accounts get a 14-day free trial automatically.
- Anchored to the Act. Every tool cites the section it implements. Open the ITC checker and you see Section 17(5)(b)(i); open the e-way bill helper and you see Rule 138. No more "where does this rule live?".
- Built for India. Rupee-first, GSTIN-aware, state-code mapped. We don't pretend to be a global accounting suite — this is for one country and one law, done properly.
Who we are
Profinss is an early-stage product team headquartered in India. We are not an accounting firm — Ledgester is a reference and workflow tool, not professional advice. For specific tax positions, consult a chartered accountant.
We're small enough that the people building the product are the people who answer support. If something is wrong, broken, or missing, you can reach us directly.
What we are not
We're not a full ERP, an accounting suite, or a filing portal. We do not connect to the GSTN backend to file returns on your behalf. We do not advise on tax positions. We're a fast, accurate reference that handles the document-generation pieces (invoices, quotations, receipts) so you don't have to leave the law to do the work.
